Seat finally came in and positioned on bike. It is exactly the look I wanted and fits against the tank nice and tight.

This week, we fabricate a bracket for rear brake lights and plate holder and get the exhaust back on. Also left to be done: install new rear shocks, blast and polish side covers, wet sand and clean tank and final cleaning of frame/bike.

Next saturday — We Ride.

Custom Fabricated side covers. Fit frame tighter than stock plastic and also follow theme of raw material on bike build

“All that is not perfect down to the smallest detail is doomed to perish.

The above is a quote from Gustav Mahler, an Austrian composer from the late 1800’s.The video is an execution of Symphony No. 2, or Resurrection.

The first time I heard the quote was the first time I heard of Mahler; it compelled me to look into his work. Serendipitously, this was also the time when I was first exploring classical music…it worked out.

Resurrection is awesome. It has a lot of masculine bravado while maintaining a gentle feeling. And, at times, very chilling.

Nothing about this is wrong.

Nothing about this is wrong.

"I hate a lot. But, I hate with style and creativity. I dont hate you, I hate weakness and all the shit weakness brings. Racism, rape…all the bullshit that keeps life from being 100% fun."

— Henry Rollins

"An idealist is one who, on noticing that a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make better soup."

H.L. Mencken,  the sage of Baltimore

“Louis CK doesnt know how funny he is.”

The above description was provided by the extremely adorable, Sophie (my girlfriend). Its very true. I particularly enjoy little bits of his acts over the years; I feel that he is the “man for this time or place”…to quote the Big Lebowski.

I would add to this, that not only should people do their jobs, but strive for perfection in them. Growing up, I was told “how you do one thing is how you do everything”. This was mostly told to me while playing sports, then into working construction for my father then eventually I applied the thought to school, work and everyday life.

If you have  job you dislike, do it as bad ass as possible and prove that you are better than it. If you have a job you love, be the best in the field. Just do it with a whole heart.

Jellyfish, a San Francisco band from the early 90’s.

I just remembered this band a few days ago and am disappointed in myself for not keeping the album in rotation.

I first got into Jellyfish w/ the album Spilt Milk, however after reading more about Jason Falkner, quickly loved Bellybutton.

Jellyfish is a great, talented band drawing on influences (that can clearly be heard) from the Beach Boys, Beatles and Queen.

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

During my flight home from Portland, I took some video of my take off. I was planning on recording some short sequences throughout my flight home…but I ended up falling asleep.

I was in the van on the way to Pittsburgh and quite bored, so I pieced together what minimal footage I had into a very sophomoric video.

Right before starting this. I read a pretty good article about Jamey Johnson, a country artist who, in my opinion, carries on the spirit of Hank Sr., Waylon and Jones. I respect that and I like his style. I was fortunate enough to catch his set this summer while he was touring with Willie Nelson.

A friend offered me some backstage passes to the Willie Nelson show, so naturally, I snagged them up. I was hanging out to the left of the stage, when Jamey Johnson, gripping his now-famous acoustic (with the signatures of some of the most notable musicians in the past 60 years), walked with intent to the stage. He passed everyone, up the steps, right onto stage and proceeded to nail his set. When finished, he unplugged, and walked back to his bus in the same fashion.

I like that.
